About This Game
Second Life is a persistent online virtual world developed by Linden Lab and first released in 2003. Unlike traditional games, Second Life is a user-driven platform where residents create and share content, build communities, and shape the world themselves.
Players create customizable avatars and explore a vast world made almost entirely from user-generated content. Residents can design homes, run businesses, create art, develop games, and participate in social communities. The platform also features a fully functioning virtual economy powered by the Linden Dollar (L$), which can be exchanged for real-world currency.
Second Life supports activities such as virtual events, roleplaying, education, commerce, and entertainment. Over the years it has hosted concerts, conferences, museums, universities, and large creative communities.
With powerful building tools and a scripting system based on Linden Scripting Language (LSL), Second Life allows creators to build interactive objects, environments, and experiences, making it one of the most flexible virtual worlds ever created.
More than two decades after its launch, Second Life continues to operate with an active global community and millions of user-created locations.
